That was the theme this week at Stacy's. I haven't had my camera out since Memorial Day so I couldn't get the shots I wanted for this, but I dug up one of my niece playing with a watering can. Certainly a good way to get things 'flowering' wouldn't you say?

My Totally Awesome Website
Okay so maybe that's a bit of an overstatement but it sure is purty!
I finally decided to go with Printroom for online ordering. I was going to use Pictage, and even signed up for their special $19 a month offer, but I am so disgusted with their customer service that I will never use them nor recommend them to anyone. It's been two weeks and I am still waiting for someone to call me back about $200 in charges on my credit card that should not be there. I urge you to read the fine print if you decide to go with them too. There are tons of hidden charges.
Anyway, someone I work with recommended Printroom and I am very happy I checked it out. For just $99 you can set up your own storefront with up to 15 images and there are sections where you can include contact info., your bio, and whatever else you want to let your clients know. You upload your pictures for your clients, set up a price list, and they can order right from the website.
As business picks up (fingers crossed!I hope to upgrade to a real website and then have a link to online proofing for customers, but for now this is all I can afford.
Go check out my website!!

My Best Shot
Tracey is honoring her friend Jen who left for Rwanda today. For my best shot I am honoring my daughter. She is growing up so fast and I wish I could just freeze time.
She actually took the picture I am using for my Best Shot today. She wanted to borrow my camera and took a bunch of pictures around the house. This one is my favorite!!
Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Thursday Theme: Sunshine
The theme at Stacy's this week is sunshine. I chose something a little bit different. It's not exactly bright sunshine, but there is light involved.
Yesterday I was experimenting with window light. Since moving in with my in-laws, it's been tricky finding good places to shoot pictures other than the backyard. I finally noticed a sweet spot when Little J was playing with some books. If you look closely in her eyes you can see the sliding glass doors that she was facing. It was a gorgeous day here yesterday so there was lots of sun coming in. I just love my little munchkin!!

Cool Photography Games to Play
Head over to Photojojo for a list of really fun photography games to play. Here's an example of one.
Mission 24
What Is It? Mission 24 sends you on a mission to illustrate a given word. The intervals between missions are random, to keep you on your toes, and you have 24 hours to complete your assignment.
What are the Rules? The mission begins when Mr. X gives you a word and the countdown starts. Interpret the word as a photo and upload your two best attempts within 24 hours.
Only photos taken after the mission starts are allowed- no recycling from your archives. No naughty pictures, either, although there’s a more, um, “adult” sister group called M24:Diesel.
How Do I Play? Join the Mission 24 group on Flickr and give them your email address so you can get the updates. They promise they won’t spam you.
Why Would I Bother? Creative interpretations are encouraged, so it’s a good way to practice the ol’ non-linear thinking. Plus the short deadlines are an incentive to carry a camera everywhere and start incorporating photography into your daily routine.
Sounds like fun dontcha think?

An Explanation of Aperature
A really easy to understand explanation of aperature given by The Pioneer Woman.
Check it out!

Thursday Theme: Fun
We had a ton of fun this past weekend when my sister visited. Julianna wanted to show her aunt Mimi her Scooby Doo fishing pole so we went outside. She kept getting it caught in the trees. Fortunately her uncle was there to explain the finer points of casting.
Another one of her favorite things to do lately is "make wishes," with the dandelions.
Jaime loved having aunt Mimi around.
But all she really cared about was her Cheetos!!!

Tiny Bubbles
I was inspired by Christina to try and capture some bubble pictures. It was kinda hard to focus quickly but I managed to get a couple shots.

Mamarazzi Homework
Sarah over at the Mamarazzi School has posted a new homework assignment. I'm excited about this one because it deals with aperature. I always leave my camera on the aperature priority mode. When I got my 50mm 1.8 I was psyched to be able to capture images with that really great background blur. I love it. I leave it on my camera all the time. Here are a few pictures I've taken with the 1.8 lately.
